Nashville musicians Shan “DeBayou” Williford and James “Nick” Nixon explain and demonstrate the structure of the classic 12 bar blues. This form was the starting point of thousands of blues songs, but was also the form used by many jazz musicians (Count Basie’s One O’Clock Jump was a 12 Bar Blues structure) and many early rock ‘n’ roll musicians (Tutti Fruiti, Hound Dog, Mabellene, Rock Around the Clock were all based on the 12 bar blues structure).
